Insulate Old Garage/Shed?

I would like to use my old garage for a shop for the next year. I will only need it for a year and then the shed will be torn down.

Its currently a wood framed and plywood cladded shed, it has wood siding on the outside and a shingled roof. It has electrical as well.

Its approx 18ftx12ft and about 80″ floor to bottom of rafters, and has thick solid boards for a floor.

I want to use it for the winter so i need to insulate and heat it cheaply, but safely.

I will be using it as my workshop so i’d like it to stay warm and damp free.

It has some gaps along the tops of the walls where the roof meets the wall, i assume for air flow, will i have to keep these open?

Can i just throw down some plywood for flooring and insulate the roof and walls, then cover with poly? will this with a small space heater keep it warm?

Will I have to insulate the floor? and what sort of space heater will work best and safely?

Thanks for any tips! I’m excited to get my shop space!

You want to keep the vents open especially if you are using a space heater. I did the same in my garage. I stapled up plastic on all the walls and the door wrapping it in tight to the studs. Then I hung up old moving blankets that I got from the rental place cheap. I used a small wood stove to heat and I had to reopen the vents even though I had a chimney. I had a cement floor so I cant be much help on the floor.
