Electrical help – Dimplex heater?

I have a Dimplex heater in my front room – it has two fixed leads running into it – from fixed wall sockets.

One of the leads has just burst/exploded/split!! I have turned it off at the wall now! – it seems my puppy has chewed it!!! The heater is still working – so what was the lead for?? It is attached to the base of the heater? Am I safe to leave it swittched on??
Is ok Donna have turned it off now!!!

The dog is black but not smoking by the way!!
Buster – thanks – I think you are spot on there – it is a storage heater!! Have taped it and will get an electrician in (any idea how much it may cost??)

Is it a storage heater? If so some are connected with two electrical connections.
1st cable is on the economy 7 and only comes on when the economy 7 switches on.
2nd cable is connected to the normal electrical and would only be used for a top up of the storage heater (because the electricity is on normal price electric).
if the cable is damaged you must switch of the damaged cable.
Unsafe to use.
and tape up the cable with insulation tape until it get checked.
