Is my electric fireplace safe to use?
My grandfather passed away this summer and I received his Dimplex Electric Fireplace. I think it is a base model with 2 switches (1 for the flame & 1 for the heat) and a thermostat that clicks once it passes a certain point. Since the temperatures are getting cooler, I decided to use it tonight; however, after plugging it in and turning the heat up a small spark came out at the bottom, and I immediately unplugged it. I was wondering anyone knows what may cause this problem (needing cleaned or if something was bumped during the travel to my house) and if it is safe to use. Thanks for you help!!!
Look under it and see if there is a loose wire on the heater element. It very well could have een disturbed when it was transported. Mostly anything like that can be repaired with electrical tape to insulate
