I’m setting up a 55g, please help~!?
So my list is this:
10 Serpae Tetras
12 Rummy nose Tetras
12 Neon Tetras
1 Bristle nose Pleco
1 Angelfish
6 Cories
I heard that Serpaes have a tendancy to nip long finned fish, would they bother my Angelfish? I would think with so many it wont be a problem
I know that Angelfish are pretty aggressive ( look at my display name: devilfish ) so I plan to get a very young angelfish ( 1/2″-1″ ) and add him AFTER the tetras go in.
What should the pH be?
What should the temperature be?
What filter do you recommend for those fish and that amount of space?
Are there are any fish that you suggest i remove? I really want to keep the angelfish and tetras, i’d also like something patrolling around for un-eaten food. Any tips?
I will be using a marineland 55g stealth heater.
Do live plants absolutley need a c02 injection thing? I thought the fish made enough c02, I would like to have the back area of the tank heavily planted.

I have four angelfish and they’ve only ever been aggressive towards each other and they’ve never actually caused any damage. Your Ph should be about 6.5-7 and the temp about 25-27C. The Cory’s will be great for excess food, I have 2 myself. You can buy a CO2 injector if you want but you can also make your own with a bottle, yeast and aquarium piping. You also need a good fluorescent bulb for plants. Some plants do relatively well without CO2. From my own experience, red flame sword(though they tend to grow shorter) and i believe my other plant is called Bacopa and it grows like a weed in my tank with no special care, I’ve also had corkscrews which do nicely but have to be replaced after a year or so.
Cascade canister filters work marvelously and are very quiet and easy to clean.
