Propane Heaters For Garages

Is there any way to convert a small torpedo heater from propane to natural gas?

I’m looking for a small forced-air natural gas heater that is in the area of 50,000 BTU/hr, but everything that I have found is propane. I’ve seen the radiant heaters, but prefer the forced Air Heaters to get my garage heated quickly.

Is there any way to easily convert a propane unit to natural? I can do machining, and probably have all the tools that I need, but is it a matter of finding the right regulatot (say one from a radiant unit), and opening up the orifice a few thousandths?

You have to contact the manufacturer and see if they will provide a conversion kit, and most importantly a new rating plate for the appliance. This is the manufacturers approval that you can put that type of fuel through this heater.

If you mickey mouse the thing up yourself, you might get it to work OK, but if anyone were ever hurt or property damaged by it…You Would be liable! The manufacturer will take no responsibility because you have “altered” the appliance from it’s original intended form. Also, insurance companies have and will deny claims for the same reason! I’ve seen it happen!
