dimplex sahara electric fireplace

I scorched a part of my area rug when I was testing out my new electric fireplace. How do I fix it?

I put my new electric fireplace (Dimplex Sahara model) on my area rug to try it out. The heat comes out the bottom, but I had no idea how hot it would get. It got REALLY hot REALLY fast, and though I only had it on for about two minutes, it scorched my area rug. The fibers are all matted together, but it didn’t burn it enough to leave a black mark or anything. Can this be fixed? And if so, how?

Try wetting the area of the rug and brushing it so that it gets reversed. What is your rug made of? If it is a synthetic fiber of some kind, the fibers may not be matted, but rather, they may be melted. If this is the case, you might want to do a little rug shopping…
