Tankless electric hotwater heaters– What size do I need for just for a bathroom?
I have a tankless that I have installed that is considered a whole house provider. It runs off of a 220 volt source. It is used only for my bathroom and the laundry room. What I wanted to know is that I have another water heater for the rest of the house that I want to replace with a tankless and I need to know if there are some 110 units out there that can be used for just a shower and just for a dishwater. I do have a slow flow shower in the other bathroom. It woulld be easier for me to install a 110 unit for the 2nd bathroom and one for the kitchen sink and dishwasher but it may not be feaseable with a 110 v unit. I can install another 220 v unit for those areas but didn’t want to run and install the larger wiring that is required. does anyone know of a good website on this or does anyone have any past experience with this.
If you have a whole house 220v unit, especially since it is for the bathroom and laundry, both of which are low demand units because they are not likely to be run constantly, I would run the one you have. If not go with a 220v “single use” unit.
The 220v units are much more efficient, take up less breaker box space, and will draw less current.
I have a two coil, two 80a breakers, that feeds enough hot water to my apartment dishwasher, kitchen sink, shower, bathroom sink, and laundry. We typically do not run the dishwasher and the washer at the same time, but we do very well without any trouble.
I think ours was $450 ish at Home Depot here in Florida.
